Abstract

RESUMEN: Los dípteros conforman uno de los grupos más diversos, tanto anatómica como ecológicamente, y constituyen el 12% de las especies de animales conocidas. Se estima haya aproximadamente 150.000 especies descritas, en cerca de 10.000 géneros, 150 familias, 22-32 superfamilias, 8-10 infraórdenes y 2 subórdenes (Thompson 2006). La familia Calliphoridae ha sido ampliamente estudiada principalmente desde la perspectiva forense por su temprana presencia en los cuerpos en descomposición. Se menciona desde los tiempos de Troya (La Ilíada, libro 19) cuando Aquiles se lamenta sobre el cadáver de su amigo Patroclo “that flies might get into his wounds beaten by bronze in his body and breed Worms in them, and there make foul the body” lo cual traduce “que las moscas puedan meterse en las heridas causadas por el bronce y de ahí crecer los gusanos y dañar su cuerpo” (Greenberg y Kunich 2002). Así mismo, la primera referencia publicada acerca de estas moscas data de más allá de 3600 años, en el Har-ra-Hubulla. En esta colección de escritos cuneiformes se encuentra el primer inventario sistemático de 396 nombres de animales terrestres, de los cuales 10 son moscas, y donde por primera vez se hace mención a las llamadas moscas verdes y moscas azules (probables Lucilia sericata o Chrysomya albiceps y Calliphora, respectivamente) (Greenberg y Kunich 2002).
