Abstract

RESUMEN: El yaguarundi o Gato de monte, (Puma yagouaroundi /DFpSqGH FRPRVHFRQRFHHQ Colombia, es una de las cuatro especies de pequeños felinos que se encuentra en el país (Alberico et al. 2000). Presenta una amplia distribución, que va desde el sur de Estados Unidos hasta el sur en Argentina (de Oliveira 1998) Parece ser una especie que preferencialmente se encuentra hasta los 2200 msnm (Emmons 1999), aunque en Colombia se ha registrado hasta los 3200 msnm (Cuervo et al. 1986) Investigaciones recientes, indican que el yaguarundi no es común y está en bajas densidades poblacionales (Maffei et al. 2007).
