RESUMEN: Siempre ha existido una gran controversia relacionada con la utilidad del uso de la placa de bebé en la ortopedia maxilar temprana. Los pacientes con fisura labiopalatina, suelen presentar incompetencia velofafingea funcional, dificultades foniatricas y respiratorias, anomalías en el crecimiento y desarrollo, y problemas psicológicos. Este estudio describe cómo los pacientes se adaptan al uso del plato del bebé y dejan libre su alimentación. Y qué provoca la necesidad de cambiar la placa y cuándo. La incidencia de la infección y la atención domiciliaria. Este estudio toma 76 pacientes con menos de 3 meses de edad que presentaron fisura palatina o paladar hendido uni o bilateral; se toma una impresión del paladar y se construye una placa.
