Abstract

ABSTRACT: Pesticides´ monitoring in water bodies is a basic tool to know water resource quality and assess the environmental impact of pesticides. Sampling and sample treatment are critical steps in the success of analytical methods. In recent years, the passive sampling has been applied in water bodies in order to evaluating pesticides and their metabolites to low level. Passive samplers enable to study the dynamic of pesticides and their eco-toxicological risk in aquatic environment. This review shows the advantages of passive samplers use in pesticides´ monitoring and in the evaluation of risk related with the use of these substances in Colombia. Furthermore, this review shows some advances in the deployment of passive sampling in water bodies. Currently, our laboratory is working about the use of passive sampling in pesticides monitoring in reservoirs.
