DIVERSIDAD DE LOS MACROINVERTEBRADOS ACUÁTICOS DEL PÁRAMO DE FRONTINO (ANTIOQUIA, COLOMBIA)

Abstract

ABSTRACT: We present the results of a taxonomic and ecological study on the macroinvertebrate communities of the Paramo de Frontino (Paramo del Sol) in Antioquia (Colombia). Over the course of two field seasons in September 2002 and 2004, respectively lotic and lentic systems were sampled. We report 20 taxa in the river Urrao’s headwaters, 20 in the LlanoGrande I site, 13 taxa in Lagoon Campanas, and 18 in Lagoon Puente Largo from the 2002 field season. From the 2004 field season we report 14 taxa in the Llano Grande I site, 17 in the Llano Grande II site, and 11 taxa in Lagoon Puente Largo. The species accumulation curves show that for the lentic systems the sampling is representative for the studied organisms, while for lotic systems the sampling was insufficient. Recorded for the first time for Colombia is Hydrozetes
