Esteroles libres del octocoral Eunicea sp.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: From the ethyl extract of the octocoral Eunicea sp. collected in the Bay of Santa Marta, the fraction of free sterols was isolated by chromatographic methods. The analysis by gas chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry (CG-MS), and by High Efficiency Liquid Chromatography (HLC), allowed to establish that it is a mixture of sterols mainly with nucleus ∆5-3β hydroxyandrostene, being the majority sterols brassicasterol , cholesterol, 24-propylene cholesterol and 25 (26) -dehydrositosterol.
