ABSTRACT: The influence of various environmental conditions (temperature, pH, light and oxygen) on the stability of Alprazolam has been investigated, applying thin layer chromatography techniques. Light was found to be the main degradation factor for alprazolam. The main photodegradation products have been isolated and identified by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. These products reveal that oxidation, solvolysis and rearrangement reactions occur in the photodegradation of alprazolam.
