Abstract

ABSTRACT: The present of Physa cubensis, a fresh water mollusk belonging to the Physidae family, is reported in the humid soils, ditches and lakes of the Bogotá savannah, as well as in the floating vegetation of the Bogotá river (Cundinamarca). This is the first report that establishes the role of this snail as a trematode intermediary host in the country. The presence of Physa cubensis is also reported in the departments of Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, and Tolima, in rivers, streams and ponds.
