ABSTRACT: The present of Physa cubensis, a fresh water mollusk belonging to the Physidae family, is reported in the humid soils, ditches and lakes of the Bogotá savannah, as well as in the floating vegetation of the Bogotá river (Cundinamarca). This is the first report that establishes the role of this snail as a trematode intermediary host in the country. The presence of Physa cubensis is also reported in the departments of Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, and Tolima, in rivers, streams and ponds.
RESUMEN: Se reporta la presencia de Physa cubensis, un molusco dulceacuícola de la familia Physidae, en los humedales, cunetas y lagos de la sabana de Bogotá, así como en la vegetación flotante del río Bogotá (Cundinamarca); por primera vez en el país se establece el desempeño de esta especie como hospedadora intermediaria de un tremátodo. También se reporta la presencia de Physa cubensis en los departamentos de Antioquia, Valle del Cauca y Tolima, en ecosistemas tanto lénticos como lóticos.
