Kährikkoer (Nyctereutes procyonoides) Eesti looduses ning jahimeeste arvamus liigi majandamisele

Abstract

Uurimustöös on kasutatud jahimeeste poolt täidetud küsimustikku, mille andmete analüüsiks on kasutatud statistilist analüüsi.

Invasive alien species are a threat to a local fauna, competiting for food, habitat and shelter. The raccoon dog was introduced to Estonia in 1959, for today they have adapted well and is one of the most common predator in Estonia. The aim of this research was to gather information about how and by whom this alien species should be managed. A questionary is used in this research, answered by hunters of Estonia. Statistical analyses is used to analyse the collected data, with reducing, classification and categorisation. 88% of answered hunters hunt at least one raccoon dog per year and 91% have been exposed to a infected raccoon dog. Scabies is the most common disease what the raccoon dogs carry and also may be a vector to local fauna and even pets. Anti-rabies vaccination is increasing the population of raccoon dogs, what is considered to be high or very high. Possible population management boosters are considered existence of a fur market, bonussystem and paid compensations.
