Mikrokiibiga märgistatud jõevähkide (Astacus astacus) individuaalsed kasvuerinevused

Abstract

Jõevähk (Astacus astacus) on Eesti ainus looduslikult levinud vähiliik, keda kasvatatakse paarikümnes vähikasvanduses. Kuna vähke turustatakse pikkuse järgi, on kiirema kasvuga isendite väljaselgitamine vähikasvatuse seisukohast väga oluline. Senine vähikasvatuse praktika, kus tõukarja valitakse sama vanuste vähkide hulgast suurimad isendid, ei ole tõuaretuse seisukohast perspektiivne, sest valikust võivad välja jääda suurema kasvukiirusega isendid.

The noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) is the only indigenous decapod crayfish species in Estonia and is grown in around 20 crayfish farms. At present, there is a need for effective crayfish breeding system that could help to increase the crayfish production in Estonia. In crayfish breeding, it is important to select and reproduce specimens with economically important characteristics (e.g. growth rate, larger claws). For studying crayfish individual growth, passive integrated tagging (PIT) method should be use due to crayfish will lose other marks after moulting. The aim of this thesis was to use PIT tags to help identify 3-year old noble crayfish morphological features and weight individually during one summer. PIT tags were injected into the muscle of 30 noble crayfish (17 males and 13 females) abdomen with mean length of 90,5 mm ± 4,7 SD. PIT tags were checked with Agrident APR350 reader. The crayfish were left into two 0,5 m2 cages, 15 crayfish in both, for growth period (May till September). Growth differences evaluated in absolute growth rate in crayfish weigth, total length, abdomen width and width, left and right claws length and width. Results showed that noble crayfish growth rates in same age are variable in different morphological parameters and weigths and varies between gender. Since noble crayfish is marketed by total length size, it is very important in terms of crayfish farming to identify crayfish with higher growth rate. This cannot be done according to the practice of sorting out just larger individuals that may fall behind in the next years of growth
