The onset of psychotic spectrum disorders is characterised by alterations in the sense of reality such as delusions and hallucinations, and generally occurs in late adolescence and early adulthood. Early intervention for these problems plays a key role in their prognosis in order to avoid chronification. One of the most studied psychological treatment options is family psychoeducation. This paper proposes a psychoeducational programme that consists of providing information and tools to family members of people with a first psychotic episode. Its aim is to form a favourable support network for the affected person that acts as a protective element against possible new psychotic episodes
