Population aging is a process of change in its age distribution. Its analysis requires global and holistic approaches because demographic dynamics respond to a broad range of causes and its effects are not always appropriately identified and quantified. Changes in population result from the interaction of demographic variables with other social, economic and geographic factors. In this paper, I report the need to broaden current approaches of diagnostics excessively focused on economic effects, that also consider population merely as an independent variable and that insufficiently consider the temporal and spatial scales, particularly related to people’s right to city and housing
