Spain has become a world benchmark in relation to tourism. However, the increase in the sector has led to a substantial amount of negative factors for the destination that have, at the same time, triggered more sustainable lines of thought in agreement with the resources of the destination. For this reason, to reduce the decline and maintain the “boom” in the destination of Spain, the SD (Smart Destination) has emerged, with the ability, through its methodology to establish a destination based around four fundamental axes that are: Technology, Accessibility, Sustainability and Innovation, so as to have a guarantee to: sustainably augment the touristic territory, to be accessible for everybody and to facility the relationship and social integration between tourist and resident, in order to increase the quality of their experience and the quality of life of the resident. In this point, this methodology will be applied to determine if the destination of Madrid has enough of the characteristics to denominate as a SD and establish its scale of accomplishment with the web of SD and the existence of possible improvements
