LTE continues the evolution of UMTS and its main target is to increase the binary rate levels in the connections in order to obtain a greater throughput. In this Final Project we have analyzed downlink connection capacity (with LTE technology based in OFDMA) for a cellular network in highways, composed by microcells. Throughout this paper we will study the efficiency of a propagation pattern of “two slopes” for an ‘R’ long sector of a highway. This length will be determined in the study in order to satisfy the requirements given by the capacity of the channel. In pursuance of a correct analysis, we must consider the frequency reuse in cellular technology, which will lead to an ‘inter-carrier’ and ‘co-channel’ interferences with more or less importance depending on the position in the sector. As a conclusion, the best combinations between binary rates in the sector (without taking into account attenuation factors) and its length will be determined, with the intention of a future application of the technology in real highways. The theoretical results will include a simulation of a 1km long complete sector.
