Abstract

Homeless people have unique characteristics that make them a difficult population to locate and identify. Beginning in 2006, to conduct systematic and periodic research on homelessness in Madrid, the Local Technical Forum on Homeless People began Survey Nights (or Point-in-Time Count) in this city. This chapter presents this research methodology and its application in Madrid, focusing on the analysis of the most relevant data collected for over a decade. Finally, the chapter concludes with a reflection on the development of this methodology and what new challenges need to be considered for future research.
