Transfobia, Colonialidad y Odio Una lectura transfeminista

Abstract

Nowadays it is common to find positions that affirm that the recognition of the right to gender self-determination, which is advocated by an important part of the trans movement, is dangerous and can even lead to totalitarian dynamics, since it undermines the legal framework that until now prevailed and under which a gender identity was assigned based on a series of somatic markers. These positions do not emanate exclusively from sectors historically associated with the right, since there are also intellectuals from the left who have expressed these same concerns; a notable example of the latter can be found in the famous French psychoanalyst Élisabeth Roudinesco. What is sought in this essay is to demonstrate the continuities that exist between the anti-gender movement associated with the neoconservative right and this other variety of trans-exclusionary positions born from the left. Succinctly, this essay argues that these coincidences are not accidental but rather reveal the influence of colonial logic in both cases.
