Abstract

The concept of diaspora has been used to refer to the processes of dispersion of peoples and their legacies, either voluntarily or forced. This notion is frequently used, for example, in the context of historical studies and claims concerning the memories of kidnappings, uprooting, slavery, trafficking and emancipation of Africans and their descendants in Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean. The apprehension of the notion of diaspora invites us to take into account other socio-historical and anthropological dimensions but also the political, philosophical, linguistic, symbolic, spiritual, imaginary, artistic, etc., reappropriations of the past-present of peoples and communities that inscribe them in a singular or multiple belonging, transmitted or reconstructed. This is what I refer to as re-ombligamiento. This article aims at a critical analysis of the political fecundities of black diasporas in the novel by Colombian physician, anthropologist and writer Manuel Zapata Olivella, Changó, the Biggest Badass.
