Abstract

Shōjo manga is part of girl culture in Japan and has spread throughout the world. It serves for the authors as a form of expression and for the readers as a form of escape and connection with the writers and with their feminine identity. However, despite the efforts of the authors, shōjo manga has suffered a lot of marginalization and undervaluation and has been the object of ridicule for the simple fact of being created by and for women. This research aims to show the reality of female manga authors and all the prejudices that society has about them and about shōjo manga. From its creation until today, authors and readers are still united to try to end this contempt for feminine culture and do justice to the work created by women.
