Abstract

Osteoporotic vertebral fractures are becoming increasingly prevalent and represent a significant public health challenge due to population aging. Although conservative treatments such as analgesics and orthoses are insufficient to control pain and improve quality of life in patients with multiple fractures, vertebroplasty emerges as a promising solution. Vertebroplasty involves percutaneous injection of biological cement into fractured vertebrae to alleviate pain and increase vertebral stability. However, controversies persist regarding its efficacy and safety, especially regarding its potential association with subsequent fractures in adjacent vertebrae in cases of multiple fractures. This review aims to delve into various aspects related to the efficacy and safety of vertebroplasty, particularly when applied to multiple fractures.
