Abstract

Antecedentes: Son escasos los estudios que han evaluado el efecto de la exposición prenatal a insecticidas organofosforados y piretroides sobre el crecimiento fetal. Estudios epidemiológicos previos han mostrado que la exposición a estos compuestos puede afectar el crecimiento normal del feto y asociarse con efectos adversos al nacer. Las alteraciones en el crecimiento fetal normal pueden contribuir al desarrollo de patologías durante la infancia y la vida adulta. Objetivo: Evaluar la asociación entre la exposición prenatal a plaguicidas no persistentes (insecticidas OPs y piretroides) y la antropometría al nacer y crecimiento fetal medido a través de ecografías seriadas, en binomios madre-hijo/a residentes en la comarca del poniente almeriense. Material y métodos: El presente estudio se ha realizado en el marco de la Cohorte de nacimiento prospectiva GENEIDA (Genetics, early life environmental exposures and infant development in Andalusia). Conclusiones: los resultados evidencian que la exposición prenatal a insecticidas organofosforados y piretroides puede afectar el crecimiento fetal normal, acortar la edad gestacional y alterar los parámetros antropométricos al nacimiento.
