Abstract

As a precedent of the first written Constitutions of the United States, the Pilgrim Code of Law enacted by the inhabitants of the New Plymouth Colony in 1636, better-known such Pilgrim Fathers, illustrates the close relationship between Puritanism and the origin of the written Constitutions pointed out by scholars.
