El objetivo del presente artículo es llevar a cabo una reflexión sobre los elementos de movilidad urbana vertical, así como de su relación con la ciudad y con el paisaje en el que se insertan. Todo ello sin obviar su función social y su capacidad de transformación de los flujos y las dinámicas urbanas. Para ello, se ha elegido Lisboa como caso de estudio. Debido a sus peculiaridades topográficas, la capital portuguesa presenta un gran número de situaciones en las que se ha optado por utilizar este tipo de sistemas de conquista de niveles. Asímismo, se pretende destacar la figura pionera de los arquitectos e ingenieros portugueses, entendiendo su papel como precursores en el uso de los sistemas de movilidad urbana vertical.

The aim of this paper is to carry out a reflection on the elements of urban vertical mobility, their relationship with the city and with the landscape in which they are located. However, it does not ignore their social function and their ability to transform urban movements and dynamics. To this end, we have chosen Lisbon as a case study. Due to its topographical peculiarities, the Portuguese capital presents a large number of situations in which it has been opted for this type of system of conquest of levels. It is also important to highlight the pioneering role played by Portuguese architects and engineers, who are considered to be forerunners in the use of vertical urban mobility systems.
