Abstract

El presente artículo es una traducción ligeramente elaborada de uno en hebreo publicado en Leshonenu La' am XXXVII (1986). En las citas ilustrativas se han tratado de usar en lo posible las equivalencias morfológicas de las formas hebreas relevantes. El hebreo tiene una sola forma de futuro, neutra del punto de vista modal--es decir con valor indicativo o bien subjuntivo (en este caso se usa también para el pretérito); el lector debe ser conciente de esta ambigüedad, que no se refleja en la traducción.

El uso de un pretérito o de un presente en vez de un futuro (=subjuntivo) en subordinación a un verbo modal es anómalo en hebreo; sin embargo este uso es normal en ciertas circunstancias.

The use of a preterit or a present instead of a future (=subjunctive) in subordination to a modal verb is anomalous in Hebrew; nevertheless this use is normal under certain circumstances.
