La vivienda obrera de puerta y ventana en la ciudad de Almería

Abstract

El presente Trabajo pretende dar una visión de conjunto sobre la tipología de viviendas obreras de “puerta y ventana” de la ciudad de Almería, desde su origen a la actualidad. Aparecieron a mediados del siglo XIX y fueron protagonistas del paisaje urbano hasta la primera mitad del siglo XX1, contribuyendo a la reconocible imagen decimonónica de ciudad horizontal de la capital almeriense2. La influencia de la pieza arquitectónica en la trama urbana es notable y condiciona su diseño. Las casas de “puerta y ventana” forman parte de la identidad de los barrios obreros de la ciudad y su aspecto formal es plenamente reconocible3. El modelo evoluciona de la mano de la sociedad hasta nuestros días, aunque haya desaparecido como proyecto de nueva construcción. Se aporta documentación sobre aspectos referentes a la actualidad como su distribución presente y pasada en la ciudad, la influencia de la pérdida y transformación del modelo en los barrios, su evolución y estudio de casos reformados para reflexionar sobre el estado actual de la tipología.
