Física mineral de los filosilicatos en el metamorfismo incipiente

Abstract

El conjunto de procesos diagenéticos y metamórficos que tienen lugar en condiciones de temperatura y presión inferiores a las de la facies de esquistos verdes da lugar a rocas caracterizadas por la ausencia de equilibrio químico y textural y minerales de tamaño de grano muy pequeño, que forman intercrecimientos a una escala no reconocible mediante microscopía óptica. Durante muchos años los geólogos que trabajan en terrenos formados en tales condiciones buscan criterios alternativos, muchas veces basados en aspectos cristaloquímicos de los filosilicatos, siendo estos una materia de estudio en cuanto a los fenómenos que ampliamente se engloban en el concepto de Cristal Real. Para llevar a cabo el estudio cristaloquímico se han utilizado técnicas como la difractometría de rayos X de cristal único o las variadas espectroscopías, siendo una de las herramientas más utilizadas la difractometría de polvo, y la microscopía electrónica de transmisión (TEM). Se explica la evolución del material arcilloso con el incremento del grado diagenético y metamórfico comentándose sus consecuencias cristaloquímicas y finalmente se trata el estado de la cuestión y su desarrollo futuro.
