La mandíbula y el tercer molar : estudio antropológico

Abstract

Con el fin de aportar mas datos sobre la etiopatogenia de las anomalías de erupción de los terceros molares mandibulares se han realizado las siguientes investigaciones: -medición de la fuerza masticatoria en 297 individuos de diversas edades pertenecientes a tres grupos raciales: leucodermo melanodermo y xantodermo. -estudio antropológico de 254 mandíbulas procedentes de diversas épocas desde el neolítico hasta nuestros días depositadas en el laboratorio de antropología del departamento de anatomía de la facultad de medicina de granada. Se estudian las diferencias que existen entre los diversos grupos raciales en cuanto a su fuerza masticatoria relacionándolas con sus hábitos dietéticos. Se estudia la evolución de la mandíbula humana desde el neolítico hasta nuestros días así como la frecuencia de retención y agenesia de los terceros molares mandibulares. Se concluye que la retención o inclusión de los terceros molares esta en relación con un insuficiente crecimiento mandibular causado por una dieta de consistencia física blanda durante la niñez. Por el contrario la agenesia de esta pieza dentaria no guarda relación con el tipo de dieta ni con su dureza sino que depende de un factor hereditario.
