Schwanoma del ganglio simpático cervical

Abstract

Case report: We present the case of a patient who came to the clinic due to the appearance of a left cervical tumor at the submandibular level with progressive growth and follow-up in Internal Medicine due to presyncopal episodes and bradycardia. After the exeresis of the lesion, the anatomopathological study reports a cervical sympathetic ganglion with benign schwannoma. Discussion: Schwannomas of the cervical sympathetic chain are infrequent. Complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice. The surgery in most cases involves the resection of an important nerve pathway and in our case the complete exeresis of the cervical sympathetic ganglion that had a complete involvement by the lesion. Therefore, the possibilities of neurological damage are important, being the Claude Bernard Horner syndrome ipsilateral the most common sequel.
