Abstract

Since the s. In the 19th century, the main work of Spanish bands has been to translate the lyrical and symphonic repertoire performed in theaters and concert halls, to the public spaces of the cities and towns of the country, especially after the boom experienced in the s. XX. From this point of view, the transcriptions became a fundamental tool for the dissemination of the repertoire. This thesis examines how some of Manuel de Falla's most relevant works were translated, from the analysis of the procedures used by the directors of three of the country's most important bands at the beginning of the century: Joan Lamote (Banda Municipal de Barcelona), Ricardo Villa (Banda Municipal de Madrid) and Emilio Vega Manzano (Banda de Alabarderos).
