Riesgo cardiovascular asociado al consumo de antiinflamatorios no esteroideos

Abstract

A partir de estudios epidemiológicos, experimentales y observacionales, hay evidencia de que los antiinflamatorios no esteroideos (AINE) podrían tener efectos cardiovasculares que estarían producidos por su capacidad para inhibir la síntesis de la ciclooxigenasa, enzima que tiene un papel fundamental como modulador de la función hemodinámica, transporte de iones, y de síntesis y acción de hormonas renales. La mayoría de las personas aparentemente sanas que toman dosis terapéuticas y con duración limitada de estos fármacos los toleran sin que lleguen a producir en ellas efectos adversos. Sin embargo, determinados grupos de personas con determinada comorbilidad el uso de AINE de forma crónica y altas dosis podría llegar a desencadenar un sindrome coronario agudo (SCA). El uso seguro de estos fármacos pasa por cuantificar cual es el riesgo real de estos fármacos en el desarrollo de esos efectos adversos e identificar cuales son los grupos de pacientes con un riesgo alto de sufrir estos efectos adversos.
