Abstract

Internet development and especially the Web 2.0 have offered cultural institutions an important chance to adapt themselves to the changes in the communication model driven by the evolution of social media. This paper aims to provide a practical approach to the management of Facebook and Twitter amongst Spanish and Latin American Naval and Maritime Museums, proposing a set of parameters in order to analyse a social profile. Different aspects concerning the community manager are also exposed, stressing that this profile is usually hold by a Bachelor in Humanities with limited advanced training in virtual communities management.
