Abstract

Este artículo forma parte de los resultados de dos proyectos de investigación: Género, trabajo y espacio. Las unidades de producción doméstica en las sociedades mediterráneas clásicas. El legado de la Antigüedad, financiado por el Ministerio de Educación. Plan Nacional de Investigación. Programa Sectorial de I+D: Relaciones de género, y del Proyecto de Excelencia “La arquitectura en Andalucía desde una perspectiva de género” (GENARQ), financiado por la Junta de Andalucía.

Se esbozan algunas hipótesis sobre las capacidades de la mater familias para desarrollar poder real o simbólico en el complejo mundo de la domus y en el ámbito público, dada la proyección que las mujeres adquieren o se le otorga en momentos importantes de la historia de Roma.
