Estereotipos en la moda

Abstract

"Stereotypes in fashion" is an investigation into bailing fashion stereotypes in our present society. Its objective is the creation of an artwork. Therefore, this research is focused on studying fashion from a social and artistic point of view, emphasising on fashion illustration. Reflection is proposed towards this industry on a human level. Addressing topics such as the importance of the dress, what symbolizes, how we express and interpret reality through it, and how it becomes a social and cultural historical document alive and a constantly changing experience and how we experience it every day. Moreover, it shows how the fashion is able to sustain and create new stereotypes both physical and mental. Meanwhile it becomes a symbol of freedom and progress. It focuses on the analysis of current fashion stereotypes through fashion photography, using as an example some Inditex campaigns. All of it seen from the perspective of art, and most of the artwork. As artwork becomes another historical document that reflects, many times, much more information than a photograph. Artists like René Gruau and Tony Viramonte exaggerate the sensations transmitted by clothing. So the seamstresses in collaboration with an illustrator create something unique. Finally, the artwork based on these concepts is shown, which shows a fictitious world of transparencies and appearances through the tissue paper and the pattern. Creations of others and ourselves that we put together to create a being away from our reality.
