La cultura popular como objeto de estudio

Abstract

The study of the way of life of the common people and their popular expressions is a recent science. At the beginning of this century some of the egyptian scholars and men-of-letters consecrated their labours to recuperate their own cultural legacy. Ahmad Taymur figures between them. Many of his scientific works are devoted to the study of the literature and the modern Arabic dialect of Egypt, making an special reference to the proverbial sayings.
