Abstract

This paper focuses on the analysis of nineteenth-century female archetypes through Alejandro Sawa’s controversial naturalist novel Crimen legal. Within it appears the description of a craniotomy—an abortive practice censored at the time—which, however, represented an initial form of salvation for the protagonist.
