Iguales.

Abstract

The book Iguales. Photographs from and for Childhood presents an arts-based educational experience developed between the University of Granada and CEIP Las Mimbres (Maracena), in collaboration with Fundación Caja Rural. Directed by Pedro Chacón Gordillo, the project integrates photographic creation as a tool to foster critical thinking, equality, and social justice within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions). Through photographic portraiture, children and future teachers explore issues such as peace, violence, migration, and gender equity, reflecting on their role in building more inclusive and sustainable societies. The volume combines images, reflective texts, and pedagogical processes, highlighting the transformative power of art in education and the importance of university–school collaboration as a way to promote democratic and civic values from early ages.
