Abstract

Aún los comunicólogos no han logrado una definición precisa sobre la comunicación alternativa. Quedan preguntas sin respuestas acabadas: ¿Es claramente distinguible el elemento alternativo del elemento modernizador? ¿Es lo mismo comunicación alternativa que comunicación popular? Podríamos aceptar la definición del periodista y profesor mexicano Miguel Ángel Granados Chapa, según la cual la comunicación alternativa deriva de su relación con la comunicación dominante. Lo alternativo es, en ese enfrentamiento, lo otro, lo diverso, lo que no se atiene a las reglas impuestas por el sistema dominante.
