Abstract

Dossier Desinformación. Este artículo describe el pensamiento y la doctrina militar de EE.UU. en los Conflictos de Baja Intensidad y las Operaciones Psicológicas, en base a los manuales FM100-20 y FM33-1 de la Escuela de las Américas del Ejército de Estados Unidos, de Fort Gulick, Panamá. Ambos documentos son el producto de las reflexiones políticas y militares especialmente comisionadas por el Pentágono a oficiales veteranos de Vietnam a partir de 1975. El lenguaje utilizado en los manuales es, en sí mismo, parte del mensaje. Se trató de preservar el estilo técnico y el vocabulario enrarecido que caracteriza las publicaciones militares, particularmente los manuales de operaciones traducidos para aprendices ajenos a la jerga del Pentágono. Los comentarios del autor están señalados en negrillas. El resto del artículo cita o resume secciones de los manuales relevantes a las comunicaciones en América Latina y el Tercer Mundo.
