Abstract

This text refers to an oil painting dedicated to Saint Joseph Oriol which is preserved in the parish church of La Pobla de Segur. It points to the possibility that it might be the work of Bonaventura Planella (1772-1844), based on a meticulous iconographic analysis of the work devoted to the saint who was beatified in Barcelona in June 1807, an event that led to numerous depictions by the most prominent artists.
