Abstract

Great developments are being observed in mobile technologies today, with special focus on mobile phones and other mobile electronic devices. This is where this paper is focused. In the mobile applications market, we now begin to see a strong competition, with the leading brands fighting for their place in the market, encouraging the development of applications for the operating system installed on their mobile device. One such brand is Google, bringing the Google Android [1] operating system, which is installed in many of the smartphones used today, by the general public. In this effort to encourage the development of applications for Google Android, Google has created an application store, online accessible by any terminal — Google Play [2] (before was known as Android Market) — where you can search and buy/download applications which are then used in Android devices. Addition Serviços e Projectos Informáticos, Lda [3] begins developing applications for the Android operating system with two simple applications. The first one is a utility that manages the alert sounds (calls and text messages) of the device, taking into account the surrounding environment. The second is an application that aims to show the interactions (calls and test messages) on a chart that purports to be a simple way to view user communication over a period of time. This document describes the planning and development of these two applications, plus the release and promotion stage of the first one.
