Ambiente escolar e inclusão : perspetivas dos professores

Abstract

This thesis is a result of an investigation about inclusive education and its main objective is to verify whether Rainha Santa Isabel Group School teachers’ perspective regarding inclusion changed from 2005 to 2010. For a better understanding about the emergency of inclusion concept, it was performed a retrospective analysis of special needs education evolution, applicable legislation and organizations and events involved in inclusion promotion. The introduction of inclusion concept aims essentially to promote schools for them to develop resources, tactics and strategies to measure up students’ diversity, regardless of their educational needs or social, economic, cultural, ethnic or racial condition. The knowledge of teachers’ thoughts about inclusion and school environment, while privileged actors of this educational process, is a key factor in the organization’s conceptual plan, as a main structure for an inclusive school model, respecting the scholar community’s organizational and pedagogical culture. A questionnaire was applied to the same sample in different moments in time, with a gap of 5 years. The questionnaire was elaborated based on information from INDEX Program (Dynamic Project for Inclusion). The questionnaire was organized in five groups of questions in order to evaluate teachers’ perspectives concerning development, implementation and promotion of inclusive practices between 2005 and 2010. Results showed that between 2005 and 2010 the Rainha Santa Isabel Group School teachers’ perspectives about inclusion became more congruent. This result reveals a greater cohesion in the Group’s culture.
