Abstract

The present study analyse the parenting styles, parental alliance and religion in families with autistic children. The results relating to a sample of 80 families without autistic children and other sample with 80 families with autistic children, with ages ranging between 20 and 69 years, are analysed. All these subjects answered three questionnaires, namely the Overall Questionnaire, the Parenting Styles & Dimensions Questionnaire (PSDQ short version) ((Robinson, Mandleco, Olsen, & Hart, 1995, 2001) and the Parental Alliance Inventory (PAI) (Abidin,& Brunner, 1995).. The results demonstrated that parental alliance and parenting styles are different between families with autistic children and families without autistic children, and between mothers and fathers of the two samples. The religion do not influence neither variable.
