Turismo religioso e sustentabilidade

Abstract

O texto começa por salientar a complexidade da relação entre turismo religioso e sustentabilidade, propondo uma sequência de seis passos para lidar com uma realidade dinâmica e diversificada, e que está sujeita a um apelo crescentemente ambicioso em prol da sustentabilidade. Assim: (i) identifica-se o aumento da relevância e autonomia do turismo religioso, mas também a sua crescente “desdiferenciação” em relação ao domínio, mais abrangente, do turismo cultural; (ii) destaca-se a tendência genérica de coexistência das conceções de turismo-visita e de turismo-experiência e as novas interações que daí resultam entre formas de turismo de massas e nichos específicos de turismo; (iii) sugere-se a necessidade de ir além do conceito genérico de turismo religioso, através da adoção do conceito de constelação de ecossistemas de turismo religioso; (iv) apresenta-se uma lente de observação de impactos positivos e negativos desencadeados pelas diversas modalidades de turismo religioso; (v) formulam-se princípios de ação para gerir proactivamente os impactos positivos e negativos identificados; e, por último, (vi) propõem-se orientações genéricas para promover turismos religiosos sustentáveis.
