Abstract

The education includes various sectors that a person progresses through from kindergarten, primary and secondary education, and finally higher education. In this work, we model the Portuguese primary and secondary education in a period of 12 school years from 2008 to 2019. A promising approach for the modeling of this flow has been the exploration of Markov chains by the obtaining of relevant. In this work, we will study the application of different types of Markov chains to model the flow of students in the Portuguese education. The prediction and understanding of the provided and obtained results are propitious for the minimization of problems that might occur in educational planning but also to improve existing aspects such as infrastructures and human resources.
