This dissertation presents a record of the lessons learned in the development of “Queer Utopia”, an experience in Virtual Reality. The most important reflections since 2019 are presented, involving film history and theory, new media, essay films and queer studies. The text is divided into two parts: “Prologue” and “Queer Utopia”. In the first one, reflections obtained from my first contact with Virtual Reality are presented when making an immersive essay film entitled “Handwritten”. In the second, these reflections are matured and put into practice to develop an immersive and interactive work entitled “Queer Utopia”.
