Abstract

Trigonocephaly is a form of craniosynostosis that results from the early closure of the metopic suture. The phenotype is variable and is commonly characterized by a skull with a triangular forehead and shortening of the anterior cranial vault. In severe cases, other characteristics as hypotelorism may be present,. The correction of trigonocephaly is surgical. This work has the main goal of comparing two surgical techniques used to treat trigonocephaly – the dynamic cranioplasty for trigonocephaly and the fronto-orbital cranioplasty. Data of the operated patients were collected and a statistical analysis of the perioperative data was performed. A review of the surgical treatment for trigonocephaly was also done.
