Importância terapêutica dos hemocomponentes e hemoderivados

Abstract

This monograph addresses the entire blood collection process, from the selection of blood donors, to the blood processing in blood components and blood products, as well as their storage and therapeutic applicability. Also listed are the procedures and applicable legislation when blood components and blood products are used in Portugal. It is also presented the context of use of these components and products in the treatment of the most diverse pathologies, including the treatment of COVID-19. Additionally, it is also shown an analysis of the amount of blood components produced, used and wasted in Portugal, in order to contribute to a better adaptation to their consumption.
