A disfonia associada ao canto

Abstract

The voice is an essential tool when it comes to human relations and interpersonal communication, but it is also important for the emotional expression of the individual, as it happens with singing. Dysphonia is a common complaint in all types of singers, from amateurs to professionals, with different musical styles, and this can be explained by the superior vocal demands they face and the incorrect use of their singing voice, but also by the special concern that this group of people has when it comes to their voice quality [10,26]. This revision article approaches the etiology and the description of dysphonia associated with singing. It will also be given relevance to the approach and prevention of dysphonia through vocal therapy, with adoption of vocal hygiene measures, as well as vocal exercises, with the goal of avoiding unnecessary efforts harmful to the vocal chords.
