Abstract

Quando Maria Helena Vieira da Silva expôs no Brasil, no Museu Nacional de Belas Artes do Rio de Janeiro apresentou, entre outras pinturas, uma tela que se encontra agora na Fundação Arpad Szenes-Vieira da Silva intitulada ''O Atelier do Alto de S. Francisco'', mais conhecida por ''L'atelier, Lisbonne'', de 1934/35. Embora não tenha sido particularmente tratada pela crítica brasileira, é uma obra fundamental no percurso da pintora porque, como é habitualmente dito, se trata de uma "obra de charneira". A ideia central deste ensaio é que ''Atelier, Lisbonne'' é uma pintura que se situa na relação entre a construção de um espaço a partir das suas determinações virtuais, para concretizar aquilo que Lazar Lissitzky designa de espacialidade real para se referir a uma arte ancorada na efectividade do espaço arquitectónico.
