Relação entre sarampo e surdez

Abstract

That being said, and with the aim of explaining its relevance in present times, the epidemiology of the disease will be explained, with some data about recent measles outbreaks in Portugal and in Europe. A brief desciption of the virus, its clinical presentation and its main complications will be made, giving enphasis to the etiological and physiopathological mechanisms of hearing loss. Aditionally the impact of vaccination in the disease’s history will be considered, as well as immunization programms.
