Abstract

Laryngeal carcinoma (LC) is the most frequent malignant tumor of the head and neck, being squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the glottic floor the most prevalent. Despite the negative impact on the morbimortality worldwide, it has a favorable prognosis if treated in early stages. Thanks to Its early symptomatology, it can be diagnosed and treated in a timely manner. It is essential to understand the best therapeutic approach. Since the prognosis is so favorable if patients are well treated, it’ s preponderant to come up with therapeutic schemes that allow patients not only to be disease free, but also give them the possibility to maintain the larynx and its function. Radiotherapy (RT) is one of the main forms of treatment of SCC in early stage and has been showing very good healing / preservation of organ and function, being therefore the object of study of this paper.
